Arusha National Park - Lake Manyara National Park - Tarangire - Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti National Park - Rubondo Island National Park

 

Arrival Day

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Int. Airport and transfer to Arusha Crown Hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight

Day 1: Lake Manyara

Morning breakfast and then drive to Lake Manyara Park for game viewing with picnic lunch in the bush. Dinner and overnight at Twiga Campsite 

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, cross the crater floor  for a 4 hour game drive before driving out and up to the Maasai village of Nainokanoka. Late afternoon short walk to the Olmoti Crater rim, dinner and overnight camping at Nainokanoka

Day 3: Walking to Embulmbul

Load the luggage onto Maasai donkeys and walk to across the grassy expanse of the Embulmbul Depression to Bulati Campsite on the rim of Empakaai Crater. (5 hours). Lunch and then short walk around the crater

Day 4: Empakai Crater Floor

Descend to Empakai Crater for sight seeing and lunch; the area is rich in bird life where many flamingos can be seen. ascend back out of the crater rim then on to Empakai Camp. (3 hours direct walk; 7 hours if the descent and walk round lake are included).

Day 5:  Naiyobi Maasai village

Continue round the rim then drop down the gentle northern slopes of Empakaai to Naiyobi Maasai village (3 hours). After a short visit to this remote Maasai community we continue north to leave the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and continue along airy ridges to Acacia Camp (4-5 hours).

Day 6: Lake Natron /Oldoinyo Lengai

Descend down to rift valley floor near Chini Ya Miti.  meet the driver  and transfer to the Kamakia Campsite. - This camp is located amongst acacia trees by the Ngare Sero River not far from where it flows into Lake Natron. Visit Lake Natron with its resident flocks of flamingoes. dinner and overnight at Kamakia Campsite

Day 7: Oldoinyo Lengai Trekking

Early morning (00:30) drive to base of Mt. Lengai. Much of the steep 5-hour ascent is then carried out in the relative cool of the night to reach the crater rim soon after sunrise. A few hours can be spent exploring the crater - conditions here vary from year to year depending on the degree of activity. Descend later in the afternoon and drive back to Arusha via Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at Arusha Crown Hotel
