Day 1: Dar es Salaam Selous Game Reserve
At 08:00 in the morning pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam for Selous Game Reserve (estimated driving time 5 to 6 hours); on arrival boat excursions on the Rufiji River before the sunset. Dinner and overnight at Selous Mbega Camp on the river bank
Day 2: Full Day Game viewing in the Selous Game Reserve
Full day of game drive to the Selous Game Reserve, with game drive concentrated along the Rufiji River.  Lunch will be at a picnic away.  You will drive up to Lake Tagalala for game viewing with abundant wildlife from June to December. Return to Selous Mbega camp late afternoon for dinner and overnight
Day 3: Walking Excursion and game driver
Early morning light breakfast then embark on a walking adventure with an armed ranger.  Thereafter return for breakfast and rest, after lunch, proceed with a game drive till late afternoon (sunset game drive). Return to Selous Mbega Camp for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Selous Mafia Island
Breakfast and then rest, around 09:45 drive to the Mtemere Airstrip for 09:45 flight to Mafia Island via Dar es Salaam; pick and drive to Mafia Island Lodge for lunch and rest. Dinner and overnight at Mafia Island Lodge
Day 5: off-shore islands excursion
Excursion to Chole Island, which is packed with numerous ancient ruins including largest ruin of the German colonial administrator; walking tour to see boat-building, sail-making, hand-manufacture of coconut coir ropes; nature walking tour to ancient coral rock swimming pools; Picnic lunch will be offered during the excursion; Accommodation at Mafia Island Lodge
Day 6: Snorkelling in Chole Bay
Snorkeling in Chole bay is a fantastic, colorfully exuberant experience accompanied by hoards of fish, all with different shapes, colors and sizes. Snorkelling trips usually last for a couple of hours however for those mega enthusiasts it is possible to join on the dive boat to get 4 hours of snorkeling; Wind allow you sail back to the shore making the experience truly unforgettable. Dinner and overnight at Mafia Island Lodge
Day 7: Stay at Leisure or Shark and Whale Encounters
Spend a day at Mafia Island Lodge: swimming and sunbathe or just walking, you can also do Shake and whale encounters, in which you will be picked up around 6am from Mafia Island Lodge; Breakfast and educational briefing at the research camp; Whale shark search on a traditional sailing dhow; Snorkel and photography/videography with the giants; Return to camp for debrief, showers and refreshments and drive back to Mafia Island Lodge accommodation at Mafia Island Lodge
Day 8: Return to Dar es Salaam
Breakfast and then rest; after lunch transfers to the Kilindoni Airport for 15:45 plane to Dar es Salaam and meet our staff at the airport for further assistance
The Selous Mbega Camp situated in its own forest reserve, built in 2000, is the original camp set up along the mighty Rufiji River near the Mtemere Gate, the Eastern gate to the Selous Game Reserve. It offers Boat Safaris on the Rufiji River, Walking Safaris and Game Drives.
The Mafia Island Lodge stands amidst tall palms on a sandy beach in Chole Bay, in the heart of the marine park near Utende village on South coast of Mafia. 14 Superior rooms, 18 Standard rooms and 2 Family rooms are set among the coconut palms with their own veranda overlooking the bay.
