Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Amani
Early morning depart for Amani via Muheza road winds up
through a series of road bends and corners into some of the most
beautiful scenery in Tanzania; arrive at Sigi Guesthouse in the
afternoon. After lunch take a walk around the Botanical Garden and
stop over at the Visitors Centre
Full day to explore the amazing forest reserve, with several walking
trails offer good birding, some also visiting attractive waterfalls
and sites where endemic African Violets are be found. Climb up to
reach the Amani Peak. Return to the guesthouse for dinner and
overnight Options: Evening stroll for Long-billed Tailorbird,
African Broadbill and Usambara eagle-owl
Morning transfer to Lushoto West Usambara, arrive there late morning
and drive direct to Lushoto Executive Lodge for lunch and unpacking.
Afternoon short walk to Montessori Sisters of Ubiri, A beautifully
landscaped Mission; also visit a Irente View Point before you come
back for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Magamba Rainforest Walking
This tour begins with an uphill walk from Lushoto to the royal
village of Kwembago, where you will learn about the cultural history
of the traditional ruling clan, the Kilindi. From Kwembago, you have
a beautiful view over Lushoto and the Maasai Steppe. Proceeds to the
Magamba rainforest, home to black and white Colobus monkeys. Then
return to Lushoto passes through an old German middle school and
village of Magamba. Dinner and overnight
at Lushoto Executive Lodge
Day 5: Transfer to Mtae
Half a day tour to Mtae Village;
Mtae is situated right on
the northern point of the Usambara Mountains with red bricks houses
dominates slops of the mountain ridge. From the ridge a clear
view (if sky is free from clouds) of the Maasai Steppes parched and
stretched out towards the Pare Mountains to the west and green
plains stretched towards the Indian Ocean to east. All perfect for
sunset and sunrise viewing;
late afternoon return to Lushoto for rest and dinner and overnight
at
Lushoto Executive Lodge
Day 6: Drive back to Dar es
Salaam/Arusha .
after breakfast drive back
