Udzungwa Mountain
National Park is one of the top ten forests for
bird conservation in Africa, with local endemic species of
Udzungwa partridge, rufous-winged sunbird and the
African tailor bird, others
include African Marabou, Ruppell’s Vulture, Crowned Eagle,
African Hobby, Scaly Francolin, African Green Pigeon,
African White-rumped Swift, Malachite Kingfisher, Woodland
Kingfisher, Striped Kingfisher, Silvery-cheeked Hornbill,
Trumpeter Hornbill, Crowned Hornbill, Grey Hornbill, Hoopoe,
Wire-tailed Swallow, Cape Rook, Fiscal Shrike, Lesser

One of the amazing thing is
how The forest's vegetation keep on changing its shapes and
sizes within the same area. From mid-sized trees, to
bigger trees that are concentrated in some areas. At all levels,
the bird life are excellent Visitors have also an opportunity
to see among others the rare plants which include wild-banana and
wild-coffee plants.

Udzungwa
Mountain National Park
offers opportunity for foot
walking safari, especially for naturalists, and hikers. Walking and
hiking through dense forest on the steep slope to the waterfalls
while viewing the
Kilombero flood plain
and being entertained by endemic primates, butterflies, and birds
songs. At a relaxing time walking to the Ruiper Ranger Post along
the Ruiper River, full of water buffalos and hippos, as well as
birds.

nights: Starting with Foot-walking game viewing, hiking and

We are
planning the new routes to ascend from Mbatwa Ranger Post
(Ruaha Mtandika) to Mwanihana Peak and descending toward
Sonjo, which takes 6 days; and another route to the highest
peak in Udzungwa, Luhombero from Dabaga, Iringa (which
takes5 to 7 days)
