Location
Bordering the
Ruaha National Park, composed by hills of scrub mixed with patches
of forest along the streams and the Mpera River valley, which provide
water in the dry season and becoming the best game viewing areas from
July to November.
Vegetation
The Reserve is covered primarily with Miombo woodlands giving visitors
access to some of the best big game viewing. It is huge and wide spread
reserve, covering large part of Central and west of Tanzania.
Wildlife Attraction
The predominant wildlife species here are: Lions, Leopard, Buffalo,
Eland, Saber, Nibble, Great Kudu, Grysbok, Klipspringer, Oribi,
Hartebeest, Liechtenstein, Impala, Zebra, Hippo, Crocodile and Bushpig.
It is unspoiled reserve, though affected considerably by hunting, and
provides the excellent habitation for lion and hyena. It regarded to
have largest concentration of bird species feeding themselves in Usangu
valley.
Accessibility
The area can be accessed from Rujewa/Madibila or Tabora.
