Biharamulo Game
reserve is part of the North Western
Tanzania's Big
Game Hunting Reserves, which consists of Biharamulo,
Burigi, Rumanyika
Orugundu, and Ibanda Game Reserves in Kagera Region. The reserve is
located adjacent to the southwest shore of
Lake Victoria, covering an area of
1300 square kilometers.

The game reserve
shares some of the eco-system with the adjacent
Bugiri game reserve and off-shore island
national park of
Rubondo.
Vegetation: The northern part of the reserve is dominated by
brachystegia-miombo woodland reverine and savannah woodland. Wildlife
residing in this game reserve include: common reedbuck and steinbuck,
hippopotamus, elephants, zebra, sable, roan antelope, sitatunga (found
in swampy areas), topi, and displaced red colobus monkeys. It is also
rich in bird life, which includes among others martial eagle, sacred
ibis, saddle and billed stork.
Best time to visit:
from June to September,
when it is dry.
