VISA, a valid passport (6 months) and a vaccination certificate for certain diseases are three major requirements when entering Tanzania. Visas have to be applied at the nearest Tanzanian Embassy or High Commission. Some Commonwealth and Scandinavian nationals are exempted from visa applications. For the exempted nationals their passports will be stamped free of charge upon arrival in Tanzania. Cross-check with the nearest Tanzanian Embassy or High Commission if you are one of those exempted from this requirement. Otherwise a visa can be obtained at entry points: Namanga & Tunduma boarders, Zanzibar International airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport, and Dar es Salaam International Airport. However, be careful with the last option, you may find that you are in a group of countries that are highly scrutinized or you may encounter a lot of bureaucracy before you can get in. For people who are coming from a Country where there is a Tanzania Embassy/High Commission we strongly advise to get a visa before travel.
