Arusha National Park is
located 25km from Arusha town and 35 kilometers from Kilimanjaro
International Airport; it is the closest national park to
Arusha town.
The park is among the small national parks in Tanzania with 137
square kilometers. Nevertheless, it has diverse topography that
can catch your eyes and heart. The notable features are
Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, and
Mount Meru, which is among the best places to get a
great view of
Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds
Arusha National Park has wide range
of vegetations, e.g. the slopes of
Ngurdoto Crater
are covered
with rainforest, swamps and lush savannah at the crater floor,
while alpine moorland in the slopes of
Meru Mountain. |

Birding
in Arusha National Park
- The vegetation
that support more than 300 species of birds, some are
migratory and others permanently live in the forests. Birds
mostly seen here are waterfowls, huge flocks of Flamingos can
also be seen at Momella Lakes, and if lucky martial eagle
African Marsh
Harrier, and
Taita Falcons

concentration of the giraffes buffalo, Zebra, Colobus monkey, bushbuck, reedbuck,
waterbuck, warthog, Leopards and spotted hyenas. elephant are
there, but not commonly seen, no lions in this park.
